Authentic 80s Meatloaf Recipe - Lets Break Bread 1988
Meat Loaf Authentic 80s - Let's Break Bread Together - Referenced from The United Churches in Canada 1988
2/3 cup dry bread crumbs soaked in 1 cup milk
1.5 lbs ground beef
2 eggs, slightly beaten
1/4 cup chopped onion
1 tsp salt
1/8 tsp pepper
1/2 tsp sage
Glaze:
3 Tbsp brown sugar
1/4 cup ketchup
1/4 tsp ground nutmeg
1 tsp mustard
• Combine. Put in loaf pan. Top with glaze.
• Bake uncovered in moderate oven until done - I recommend 350° for at least one hour.
• You would like your meatloaf to be moist, but not sticky.
• Do not overcook! Meatloaf will continue cooking once removed from oven and has sat for about 10-15 minutes. You may still be wondering if your meatloaf is cooked thoroughly because of the softness. YES - IT IS! The moisture in this loaf comes from the breadcrumbs being soaked 😊

Serve with your favorite childhood sides ~
We always loved a mix tomatoes, canned green beans, corn, beets and potatoes!
